There is just something extra magical about starting the year with a lifestyle maternity session — and this one was the most beautiful way to kick off 2026. 🤍

I packed up my gear, blared my music (and fully enjoyed a peaceful 45-minute drive without a toddler yelling from the backseat… honestly, a luxury 😂), and headed to my clients’ gorgeous home in SW Calgary for the most cozy, heartfelt maternity session.

And let me just say… it did not disappoint.

From the moment I walked in, I knew this session was going to be special.

We began the session exactly how I love to start all lifestyle maternity sessions — slow, relaxed, and real.

There were dog cuddles, coffee brewing, soft light pouring into the kitchen, and that calm anticipation that only exists right before a baby arrives.

Photographing maternity sessions in your own home will forever have my heart.Because this is the space where:

Baby will come home for the first time
Late-night feeds will happen
First smiles and milestones will unfold
And your entire world will quietly shift

These aren’t just photos of a bump.They’re photos of the beginning of a new chapter.

Including Fur Babies in Your Maternity Session (So Important)

Okay but we need to talk about the real stars for a second… the dogs. 🥹

Including your fur babies in your maternity (and newborn!) session is SO meaningful.

They were your first babies.Your first cuddles.Your first routines.Your first “family.”

And let’s be honest — this is a huge transition for them too.

I always encourage my Calgary and Airdrie maternity clients to include their pets because:

It tells your full story
It makes the session feel natural and relaxed
And it creates the sweetest, emotional images you will treasure forever

One of my favourite parts of this lifestyle maternity session was how natural everything felt.

These are the moments that truly reflect what this season of life looks like.

Not stiff posing.Not forced smiles.Just connection.

And that is exactly what lifestyle maternity photography in Calgary should feel like — relaxed, emotional, and deeply personal.

Braving the Winter Wonderland (And It Was Worth It)

After capturing all the cozy indoor moments, we bundled up and stepped outside into the most dreamy winter landscape.

And here’s the part that made me SO jealous…This stunning snowy location was literally walking distance from their house.

Like excuse me??A frozen river, soft snowfall, and the most peaceful winter backdrop right outside your door?!

As a maternity photographer serving Calgary and Airdrie, I am officially obsessed.

Yes, it was freezing.Yes, we moved quickly.But WOW — those winter maternity photos were absolutely worth it.

Soft snow, glowing skin tones, and that quiet, romantic winter vibe that only Alberta winters can create.
