Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how absolutely magical this maternity session was?!

These clients found me last minute for their maternity session, and I was SO EXCITED when our calendars just happened to line up and I was able to fit them into my schedule.

These are the sessions that fill up my soul and make me fall in love with photography all over again. There is just something so special about spending an evening in the mountains, chasing the sunset, celebrating a growing family, and creating memories that they'll look back on for years to come.

Now... let's play a little game.

Were the bugs attacking our ears and faces for basically the entire session?

YES. 😂 and having to photoshop them out of the photos because they wouldn't leave us alone, was just as annoying!

Was I beyond excited when I found out their dog was named Jasper?

Absolutely! It is clearly the coolest name ever... which is exactly why my son has it. 😉

Was I overjoyed when my client came for her Gown Try-On Appointment and chose the cream boho maternity dress that had been patiently waiting in my client wardrobe for another adventure?

Of course! It had been way too long since I'd photographed someone in it, and it could not have been more perfect for this location.

Was I incredibly thankful we squeezed this session in just before an entire week of rain rolled in? ABSOLUTELY! THANK GOODNESS.

Did the light look like something straight out of a fairytale?

HECK YES.

And honestly... that's exactly why I love photographing in Kananaskis. The mountain views, rolling grass, winding pathways, the wildflowers, and golden evening light create such a dreamy backdrop that it almost doesn't feel real. Every corner looks like it belongs in a storybook.

One of my favourite parts of every maternity session is seeing everything come together. The perfect dress. The glowing sunset. The excitement of welcoming a new little one. And, of course, bringing the family dog along makes it even more special. (I'm always a sucker for including fur babies!)

I also have to give a huge shoutout to Artistry by Bobi, who absolutely nailed my client's hair and makeup. It photographed beautifully and completed the whole look perfectly.

Sessions like this remind me why I love what I do so much. Even when we're laughing through bug attacks, swatting mosquitoes between photos, and racing the weather, we still create images that feel timeless.

I truly couldn't have asked for a more beautiful evening with such an amazing family.
