Somehow in the chaos of planning two separate birthday parties (yes, I’m that mom), baking a cake from scratch for his smash session, setting up the backdrop, and being an emotional puddle about my baby turning one… I completely forgot to blog Jasper’s Bluey Cake Smash. I know. I’m the worst. But let’s fix that right now!
If you’ve already seen his One Piece-themed cake smash we did on his actual birthday (because I did remember to blog that one), you’ll know I went full-out anime fan mode for my husband. You can peek at that session here:
Now let me take you back to this cozy, messy, joy-filled day when Jasper was 11 months old…
My sister and I spent the entire day baking and decorating the perfect Bluey-inspired duck cake. (Well… my sister—Auntie K—made the cake. I really just handed her ingredients and watched like a proud sous chef.) Jasper helped in his own chaotic way, of course—mainly by taste-testing batter off spoons and running away with spatulas. After all that effort, the result was adorable… and short-lived, because once we put it in front of him, he had an absolute blastsmashing it to pieces. Eating it? Not so much. But smashing it? A+ toddler performance.
After cake destruction, Jasper got cleaned up in my adorable prop bath (complete with bubbles and the cutest splashes), and then Daddy took over with a real bath and a well-earned nap. It was truly a fun-filled family day from start to finish—and the photos? Worth every ounce of chaos.
When it comes to helping my clients narrow down their gallery, I’m a total pro. But when it comes to editing photos of my own kid? Let’s just say… 134 edited images later, I’m still swooning. (And that doesn’t include the entire set from his One Piece smash.)
And if you’re wondering why Jasper had two cake smashes? The answer is simple: I’m extra. But also, my husband is a die-hard One Piece fan, and since it’s One Piece—not Two Piece or Three Piece—I had no choice but to do that session when he officially turned one. The Bluey theme was just too cute not to do too—and it matched his birthday party perfectly!
So without further ado, here it is—the Bluey Cake Smash that started it all. Get ready for frosting, splashes, and one very happy baby 💙
